KORI-SHOW Project, which aims to create new products by combining traditional Japanese techniques with technology, commissioned us to design a series of tabletop goods inspired by Jomon-era Kaen-gata earthenware.
The design is a combination of Mokumekomi, a doll-making technique in which fabric and string are inserted into a wooden mold and fixed to create a design, and FDM type 3D printing, with the intention of creating a fresh design created by the mismatch of different techniques.
The three pieces, a pen stand, a desk organizer, and a coaster, each have a wide range of expressions by incorporating different colors of strings into the Mokumekomi technique.
